Also, most of earthquake deaths(死亡) happen after the earthquake, so remember that the danger does not end when the shaking does!
If you stay indoors during an earthquake, move away from unsupported areas and windows. Try to get under a doorway or the strong beams(梁). Stay under a table or desk only if it is very strong. Don’t rush to lifts, because it is very dangerous there. Cover your head with your arms around it and curl(蜷缩) into a ball, and wait for the shaking to stop.

After an earthquake, many buildings are less strong. If you stay indoors, move people from the buildings quickly and help people in need. Once outdoors, move well away from the buildings. Wait till it is safe to stay indoors.

You can’t hide a natural disaster from children, so how do we prepare them for it? First of all, you should explain to them that acts of nature aren’t necessarily disasters but can become one. These may include floods, hurricanes(飓风), tornadoes(龙卷风), winter storms, wild fires, and earthquakes. The way to prepare children for these disasters is to educate(教育) them about what each type is and then make it fun by making them “Disaster Masters” or whatever title you can think of.?
Making them a Disaster Master won’t be easy. They must know what’s in a disaster emergency kit(工具箱) and why it’s included. You can get your friends involved, too. If your friends have children, they may want to be involved in(与……关联) your emergency(紧急情况) preparations.
Explain to them what they’re likely to see and describe how people may react(反应). Disasters can come and go very quickly and generally don’t last long. Let them know they can look to their parents and other adults if they become afraid. And it’s important to let them know it’s OK to cry during a disaster.
It’s sometimes helpful to let the children draw pictures of what they’ve experienced. Encourage them to write what they learned and what could have been done better. Save the story. Make it part of a documented family history!?

Earthquakes happen without warning (前兆). They can happen any time of a day, at any point during the year. But don't worry because most are so weak that they cannot be felt. Only a few big ones hurt people. However, it's important to know what to do when an earthquake is happening.
Do NOT go outside. You could get injured from falling glass or parts of buildings. If you are outside, stay away from buildings and power lines (输电线).
Stay under a desk, table, or other strong furniture. Hold on to it. Or stay in a corner of the building. Cover your face and head with your arms and cover your mouth with a towel or clothing. Stay inside until shaking stops and it is safe to go outside.
Keep away from windows, pictures or advertisements on the wall or the building, and anything else that could fall and hurt you. Most people get injured by falling things during an earthquake, not by the shaking itself.
Also keep away from a fire. You could fall down and burn yourself on the fire.
